People considering a move to Colorado Springs from warmer climates are often surprised at the lack of homes with private pools in Colorado. With only two months of the year (July and August) averaging high temperatures of 80º or more, combined with frequent May snowstorms and small backyards, Colorado Springs just isn’t the place to replicate a desert or coastal summer experience.
How Many Homes Have Pools?
Just what are the odds of finding a home with a pool in Colorado Springs?
Pretty slim. In 2018, the number of homes sold with a private pool of any kind was less than two-tenths of one percent:
Homes Sold in 2018
Homes with Private Pools Sold in 2018
(0.18% of total)
If you really want a home with a private pool, it’s probably more feasible to search for a home that has a yard where a pool could be installed.
Neighborhoods with Community Pools
Expanding your search to include homes that have community or neighborhood pools gives you a lot more options – perhaps not as many as a Californian or Floridian would expect, but still, there are options (mostly in the north part of town).
Take note that some neighborhood homeowner’s association (HOA) dues include use of the pool, and some neighborhood pools require a separate membership. Some neighborhoods may offer memberships to non-residents.
