Men’s Fitness magazine chose Colorado Springs as The Fittest City in America for 2008. We rank high in marks for city parks per capita, health food stores per resident, and are over five times more likely to mountain bike than any other city in the survey. We also have the highest rate of skiing/snowboarding for any city in the survey (beating Denver) and we are 233% more likely to play lacrosse than any other city in the survey. (Who knew?)
What’s pulling us down? The fact that we have low numbers of people participating in high-impact and low-impact aerobic dancing.
I know that I, personally, feel more fit just because I live here, even though I can’t recall the last time I participated in a fitness-related activity (other than chasing around two kids). You can read the full report here.
