If you live in El Paso, Teller, or Park county and would like trees to plant for windbreak, help with erosion, or provide a wildlife habitat, you can get trees very inexpensively through the Colorado State Forest Service Trees for Conservation Program. The program offers seedlings of popular, Colorado-suited species such as white fir, blue spruce, aspen, and more for about $1.00 each. You purchase in lots of 25-30, and the price varies a big depending on the size of the tree. The trees are not to be used for ornamental or landscaping purposes.
You must order the trees by early April, and you will have to pick up the trees at the Woodland Park office in early May. For more information and the order form, go here.
