Colorado Springs is home to a few famous people, particularly in the area of Christian ministry leaders. It’s always been interesting to me to see where people in the spotlight choose to live, so today I’m starting an occasional look at some of the famous homes in the Springs. Some might be famous for their residents, former residents, or just for things that happened there. If you have any ideas on famous citizens to feature, let me know and I’ll do my best to figure out where they live. (I do have to draw the line at trespassing just to get a picture. 🙂
Let’s start with a local figure – “famous” might be stretching it, so we’ll call him “semi-famous” or “locally famous”.
This local figure…
- Says his hobby is “investing in the stock market”
- Was an Army Captain at Fort Carson
- Ran for US Congress (and lost to Doug Lamborn) in 2006
- And if this doesn’t give it away, you’re probably not from around here: he is the first Hispanic mayor (and vice-mayor) in the history of Colorado Springs.
Yup, you guessed it. Built in 2005, this 5,227 square foot, 5 bedroom, 5 bath home is Lionel Rivera’s house, current mayor of Colorado Springs. It’s currently assessed at $856,829 (assessed value can vary greatly from market value).
