Some great free events going on this weekend! The weather forecast is calling for a high of 52º on Saturday and 60º on Saturday, so it’s a great time to go downtown and enjoy some of these events:
The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is at noon at Saturday and runs down south Tejon from St. Vrain to Vermijo. Get there early for a good seat!
Once you’re done with the parade, head down to the Pioneers Museum and check out the Chalk It Up To Greatness chalk art festival on the museum sidewalk. It’s free and runs from 8 AM to 4 PM both Saturday and Sunday.
And, this week the Pioneers Museum opened up a special exhibit on the city’s founder, General William Jackson Palmer. Sounds like it’s going to be an interesting exhibit based on the description on their website:
New city residents wonder why his statue is in the intersection of Platte and Nevada Avenues while many long-time citizens believe they know all they need to about him: he founded our city, many landmarks carry his name, and his spoiled wife Queen left him for easy living in England. Think again. New research and a new exhibit at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum add to the effort by historians to dispel these misleading myths.
Admission to the Pioneers Museum is always free! Hope you’re able to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather this weekend!
