Well, according to Outside magazine, the best city in the United States is our very own Colorado Springs, Colorado!
Outside took the top 100 most populated cities in the nation and narrowed it down to 28 by looking at factors such as quality of life, cost of living, unemployment, commute time, and more. They then compared education, housing prices-to-income ratio, and weather, as well as outdoor sporting opportunities, and came up with the top ten below.
1. Colorado Springs, Colorado
2. Seattle, Washington
3. Atlanta, Georgia
4. Austin, Texas
5. Boston, Massachusetts
6. Albuquerque, New Mexico
7. Portland, Oregon
8. Minneapolis, Minnesota
9. Cincinnati, Ohio
10. Charlotte, North Carolina
Outside said Colorado Springs has the “best weather” of any city on the list, and that the Springs “blew away the competition when we compared average income to cost of living.” Of course, they gave significant weight to the number of outdoor sporting opportunities, and said that we have “260 miles of multisport trails available within a ten-mile radius.”
It’s never a surprise when Colorado Springs ranks highly in these types of surveys. There is truly a wide range of opportunities here, and the cost of living is quite low when compared with a lot of other cities with similar opportunities.
