Wondering how your HOA dues stack up to the rest?

Published September 1, 2009 by Carrie

Bill Vogrin writes an always-interesting column about neighborhood life for the Gazette, called Side Streets.  Much of the content centers around homeowner’s association issues and disputes, and this week he’s asking how much you pay for HOA dues.  Do you pay thousands of dollars a year, like Flying Horse residents do, or is it a more nominal suggested donation of $35 per year, like the Old North End Association requests?

I, for one, can’t wait to see the results of his survey.

Whether or not you think your HOA dues are too high or just right, you still have to pay them – in Colorado, your property can be foreclosed on if you don’t pay your HOA dues, even if you are current on your mortgage.  (Of course, there are many neighborhoods in Colorado Springs that don’t have any sort of homeowner’s association, or whose association doesn’t charge dues.)
